Thanks so much for the comment and sorry to hear about your arm troubles. One of the toughest things for a baseball player is struggling with his ability to throw, that’s what we do!

Unfortunately, it is impossible to render an E-diagnosis of your shoulder pain. Seems like you might have some motor recruitment and patterning problems. Luckily BC Physiotherapists are movement specialists.

A baseball player needs a lot of different parts of his body to work in a coordinated fashion for the shoulder to perform optimally and execute a throw. Sometimes there is a link in the biological chain that breaks down or isn’t working properly which then transfers more forces to other parts and structures of the body. The extra stress sent to other structures can cause damage over time if left untreated and result in pain.

I urge you to seek a local physiotherapist to perform a thorough evaluation of how your shoulder is moving currently. All you need to do is go to http://www.bcphysio.org/ and then use the “find a Physio” option on the right hand side of your homepage. This should help find you a practitioner that is close to where you live. The Physio can do things like treat the pain, use manual therapy techniques, correct movement patterns, provide exercises to fix muscle imbalances and even prescribe some stretches to lengthen tightened structures.

Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress!
